Candidates who have appeared for a degree examination and are awaiting results are also eligible to apply. In case such candidates are selected and their results are not available at the time of admission, these candidates will be given provisional admission.

Eligibility for MCA Entrance

  1. A score of 50% or more in MAH-MCA-CET Test( Combined score in GA and CC).
  2. Graduate in any discipline with at least 55% aggregate marks at the first degree examination(50% for cadidates in reserved category -OBC, SC, ST, PH, FF).
  3. Candidate must have taken mathematics as one of the subjects at HSSCE (10+2) level or at a higher level ( documentary proof is essential).

Step 2 : Admission Process at Goa University
Interested candidates need to apply in the prescribed application from for being considered for admission to the MCA programme. NO separate admission notice will appear in the news paper inviting applications. All the admission related information will be hosted on the Goa University website. The website will be continuously updated to reflect the admission status of the MCA program. The application form will also be available at the website and may be downloaded and used.

MCA Entrance Syllabus

Syllabus for MAH-MCA-CET Examination Scheme of CET:
The MAH-MCA-CET examination comprises of two papers (objective type) of one hour duration viz. General Aptitude (GA) and Computer Concepts (CC). The syllabus & sample question paper are available on website and also in brochure. General Aptitude.
The main objective of this paper is to assess the general aptitude of the candidate to pursue a computer applications and software profession. Syllabus.
The questions in this paper will cover: logical reasoning, quantitative reasoning, high school mathematics, vocabulary, English comprehension and verbal ability. A good grasp of the following topics of high school mathematics (up to the 12th standard) will be useful:

  1. Algebra : Fundamental operations in Algebra, Expansion, factorization, Quadratic equations, indices, logarithms, arithmetic, geometric and harmonic progressions, binomial theorem, permutations and combinations.
  2. Co-ordinate Geometry : Rectangular Cartesian co-ordinates, equations of a line, mid point, intersections etc., equations of a circle, distance formulae, pair of straight lines, parabola, ellipse and hyperbola, simple geometric transformations such as translation, rotation, scaling.
  3. Differential Equations: Differential equations of first order and their solutions, linear differential equations with constant coefficients, homogenous linear differential equations.
  4. Trigonometry: Simple identities, trigonometric equations, properties of triangles, solution of triangles, height and distance, inverse function.
  5. Probability and Statistics : Basic concepts of probability theory, Averages, Dependent and independent events, frequency distributions, and measures of dispersions, skewness and kurtosis, random variable and distribution functions, mathematical expectations, Binomial, Poisson, normal distributions, curve fitting, and principle of least squares, correlation and regression.
  6. Arithmetic: Ratios and proportions, problems on time-work, distance-speed, percentage, etc.
  7. Basic Set Theory and Functions: Set, relations and mappings.
  8. Mensuration: areas, triangles and quadrilaterals, area and circumference of circles, volumes and surface areas of simple solids such as cubes, spheres, cylinders and cones.
